I want it to be a modern, slightly Asian-themed bedroom. My furniture is a light wood with stainless steel accents. I was thinking of painting three walls white and having a colored accent wall to feature oriental paintings, but I don't know what color to paint it. Or maybe a dark teal blue, but I think that's out of style. Any suggestions? moreOpen Question: How can I decorate my bedroom to offset the pastel walls?
I'm a teenage girl and I moved into my sister's old room. The problem is that the walls are painted in pastel blue and green with white, and the carpet, furniture, ceiling, door, closet, and blinds are all white. All the paleness is kind of drowning me! It's not an option to paint anything or get new furniture, so I need to improvise by hanging things on the wall or buying myself decor items. What can I do to make the room look richer and darker in color? How can I offset the paleness of everything to make the room cozier and warmer? If I were to change one thing in my room besides the walls to make the room seem less pale, what should it be? Money is kind of short right now so it would need to be really affordable. moreOpen Question: Help Finding Cute Comforter?

My dad is an artist. He does upholstery and paints beautiful portraits and landscapes. I love my father and he is my inspiration. He tells me about the art of today. He's been to art shows where there are literally used toilet paper samples on the walls, and sculptures made of frozen blood! It was revolting! If you look at some of the media pop stars and celebrities of today, you'll find some of them are so hurt and so sad because of the choices they were influenced to do BECAUSE of the media, it's heart breaking. Look at our culture. The art, the sin, the media, and the things people are CLAIMING are okay, really aren't. Look at a time span that was beautiful. The Greeks, The Romans, Michelangelo, De Ga, some of the art work and furniture pieces from these time periods are lovely. Look at some of the things that run our culture. We look back at those time spans and think "Wow that is beautiful!" But think about what people will think when they look back at us. What will they think? What do we really want them to think? moreOpen Question: Need nursery ideas for a brown and cream room...?
I have just had my nursery furniture delivered and I now need to decorate the room, however I am really struggling. The furniture is pine so we thought we would decorate the room cream with a bit of chocolate brown but I am really struggling with ideas. I don't like murals or wall stickers but I would like to have something a little bit different. We are having a little boy. Was thinking about maybe doing the room cream but painting one wall chocolate brown and painting his name on the wall in like an aqua blue colour. Any one else got any other ideas? Pics would be really helpful too. Thank you :) x moreVoting Question: what color to paint my room?
im going to paint my room and im not really sure what color to paint it my furniture color is cherry and please dont say cream or neutral because i find neutral colors to be kind of boring and common. Also i need a specific color and preferably by Behr. Thanks !!!! moreResolved Question: For the Adult Readers: Shall we have a baby?
My (off and on) boyfriend of 4 years and I would like to have a baby. We are in our very early 30's. I do love him. The problem is that because he does not have a clean criminal history, he is having problems finding a steady job. He works these "side gigs" when possible (painting, landscaping, moving furniture, etc). These jobs pay in cash by the day, but again, they are not steady sources of income. We do not live together b/c I feel if one is going to be in my house, they should be able to contribute to the monthly bills. Back to the baby matter though: I know babies do not stay babies and are very expensive. It almost seems like he doesn't realize this. I feel like I would be doing it all alone if he can't help me better financially. Am I wrong for putting off our having a baby b/c I want him to have steady income? Am I wasting my time with this guy? He is trying to find a steady job, but he feels that by me making that a requirement before we have a baby, it is showing that I do not have confidence in him. ??? Am I wrong? What should I do? moreOpen Question: While moving, wood furniture scraped the painted walls and paint is on the furniture. How do you remove it?
moreResolved Question: How do I get rid of furniture?
I need to get rid of a desk and a queen size bed. And I need some cash too for a twin bed, a smaller desk and paint. moreOpen Question: HELP!!!!!!!! Crackle paint????????
I recently painted the furniture in my room (bed, dresser, desk) with a green latex based paint. I quickly tired of that, believing it looked childish. :) Lol. Well, it does! So, what I've always wanted to try was that crackle, antique-ish look. I'm not sure how to do it though. My mamaw used to do it on small projects. But I don't know how it would work out on large projects. Anywho, my main question is first off... 1.Where can I buy this, "crackle paint"? I was wanting an off-white color. 2. How do you do it? 3. Would I have to take the first coat of paint (the green latex based) off first? Or could I just paint over it???? 4. If I do need to take that first coat of paint off before I proceed with the "crackle paint", what is the best way to remove paint? moreOpen Question: Teen bedroom decor ideas?
I am painting my room lime green and would like some decor ideas. I would like a clean look. not a lot of furniture. i would like a lot of storage and again, a sleek look. any suggestions? moreResolved Question: Any ideas on how i can re-do my room [long description]?
Okay. I'm moving into a new house where i get the entire downstairs to myself. There is a bedroom, bathroom, and extra room [ i was thinking about basically using it as a living room ]. I am pretty much starting from scratch, furniture included. Does anyone have any ideas on things i can do to make i look really cool [any of the rooms]? I really like the brown zebra print stuff and the Beyonce Derion symbol so if you have any ideas on what colors would look good with that or any photos of rooms with this in them let me know please. I'm also open to any other ideas as well bc like i said i am starting from scratch and im not very creative so i just know what i like bc ive already seen it so pics are really helpful. No budget. What kind of paint would I use? Wood? Wall? I know its not high quality stuff, and I've had it for awhile but I just wanted to try a revamp and make sure it would look decent. Any suggestions? moreOpen Question: Why are my family been so cruel?
Right so today I spent the whole day cleaning out a spare room and turning it into a dining room, I am 18 so I had the money to buy paint, furniture, accessories etc When my parents came home they told me it was disgusting and that they wanted it back the old way (a messy room full of junk) I told them I made it so we could eat in their as a family; they mocked me and asked me if I am a lesbian because I am so obsessed with family. Then an hour later my 15-year old sister showed up and trashed the dining room, filling it with her Hannah Montana CDs, magazines, birth control and was eating chips, coke and chocolate bars in there and left a big mess. What should I do? Should I clean it up? moreOpen Question: I'm painting my room yellow...?

Hey there everyone! I've got a piece of furniture that is already stained and varnished. I am going to strip it and sand it, and paint it black. But I would like to have some of the woodgrain show through as well and not just have a black "cover" of paint. So, any suggestions? Water vs oil based? I don't guess I should primer it, but then, if I don't primer it, how much of the wood is going to soak up the paint, resulting in more coats? If I do primer it, I don't think I will see the woodgrain. Any help? Thanks! I forgot to mention that I have not been able to find any stain that is DARK enough to stain wood. With all the tutorials I have read though, the local Minwax ebony stain just doesn't cut it. So I have resorted to painting. moreResolved Question: How to make my bedroom look awesome!?

i went for the two walls one color and two walls another color look. two are an inchworm green. somewhat bright. i wanted the other two pinkish, but they came out dark violet/red. i thought it looked alright. but apparently my bedroom looks like "christmas" i want so badly to have a room that i actually find attractive. i was thinking of repainting the reddish ones silver. or maybe some shade of orange. or should i repaint the green? my mom said to sponge the red walls with green and the green walls with the violet/red color but do you think that would look strange? i don't want to go too light, because that's too easy to get dirty. i should've gone pale yellow and blue. but that's too much money to buy the paint again, and would require alot of work to paint them all over. what's a cheap but good brand of paint, also? ralph lauren paint ate all my money, lol. also, what furniture do you think a teen girl needs in her bedroom? i think i have too much. any help is welcome and all advice is taken into consideration. thanks. :) my sheets are animal print moreOpen Question: What colour to paint a desk 'cavity'?

Okay so my current room: painted blue walls, painted blue closet door, new wood door not painted, wooden desk, black computer chair, wooden flood, white dresser and bed with headboard, books lying all over room, shelve that is white, that has stuff on it, I would like to keep the shelve. Room that I want: I was thinking white wall paper, with lyrics and quotes written all over it. I was thinking maybe finger paint written, or colourful markers, I'm not sure. Then I was thinking of maybe drawing on my closet doors and colouring that or something. Then I want a new book shelve to put all my books on, get rid of the head board and maybe paint the furniture. What do you think? If you'd like to help me out with ideas, email me and I can email you some pics of my room and then you can give suggestions. That would be very helpful! Thanks for any input! My friend and I were thinking of doing some really trippy design on the door. moreOpen Question: What color do i paint my room with zebra style bedding?
I dont know what color to paint the walls! A solid color. I anm getting black furniture moreResolved Question: Problem with my parents...?
This is a repost, I posted it last night and got some good answers, but I need to go over more details So my parents have been telling me that I will get my room redone for about two years. Everytime I ask them they say "soon honey don't worry about it we'll get it done before school starts again" But that's every year. I'm not trying to sound spoiled or whiney or bratty. But enough is enough. I clean the house for them, keep my room clean help with the groceries. I even offered to pay for some of it since I have an actual job. I've never had furniture of my own, everything was always hand me downs. my window has a draft and the blinds don't work. my ceiling falls on me when I'm sleeping. my furniture breaks on me (drawers fall off, knobs break off..) My tv doesn't work anymore. And I have no room for anything since I have a small room and huge furniture. My room causes me so much stress. Since it's where I spend most of my time, I want to be able to be comfortable and not have to worry about things breaking all the time. And to top everything else off, we don't have a lot of money. So most of my furniture (that I picked out for my new room) is clearence or things on sale. I've added everything up without the paint and wall paper (and tax) and everything has come to under $700. I've been waiting so long and worked so hard at my job to get the money so I can pay for everything myself. I don't know what to do anymore. We're not really that tight on money, my parents are just lazy. Also, I can't just pay for everything myself because that would take even longer, since I only work about ten hours a week and get paid minimum wage. Again, thank you Oh one more thing, I have every single thing planned out for my room. The only thing I do not have done is the new tv which my mom needs to handle because she usually watches it for awhile until the price goes down. Even still, I have some recycled furniture that I just sanded and re painted. Billie, that's David Bowie in my picture. I'm a fifteen year old girl. And Christine, I am not spoiled. I rarely ask for anything unless I need it. moreOpen Question: What color should I paint my walls?
Ok I am redecorating my room and I want to have mossy oak/realtree camo bedding. My floors are like light baboo colored hardwood and I was just wondering what color I should paint my walls... I'm getting whitesh cream looking furniture. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. (: moreOpen Question: What color furniture should I get?
I painted my living room calm air by behr which is a beige with yellow undertones, kind of like a sand color. I'm not sure what color furniture should I get with carpet? I was thinking chocolate furniture with a tan colored carpet. Does this sound good or should I get something else? Also should I mount my tv on the wall above the fireplace? I don't have a huge living room so I was thinking it would give me more sitting area. moreResolved Question: What color should I paint my living room?

PLEASE?
Ok, well I live in a pretty middle class house, but it's really ugly on the inside. The paint is horrendous, because there are patches of that drywall fixing stuff everywhere, so it looks really bad, and so I would like to get it a new paint job.... Also, the furniture is really uncoordinated, and that makes it look SO bad. Like, for example, in the den, there is a gray sofa, gray armchair, beige carpet, green computer table, and a cedar wood cabinet. The whole house is like that, with no even flow, it's just a bunch of furniture thrown together. How can my house be spruced up? I really want to try and convince my parents with a somewhat cheap, but really nice method. How would I also approach my parents? I'm 16, by the way, but I don't know if they would be mad or be like "what do you care" or something, so what can I do? I'm even willing to pitch in some money if it helps. moreOpen Question: How can I make my room more personal?
I am 15, and we just painted my room. It's a bright white so it can be accented with colors-sort of a boho thing. But the issue is, I simply have no idea how to decorate it or arrange the furniture. the bed is against the wall into the room, and the night table next to it. desk one side of the window, and dresser other side. and it seems so boring. what would you recommend? moreOpen Question: mold appearing all over our home?
We recently decorated the whole of our home. We plastered all the walls and painted them. We fitted a new kitchen and bathroom, and had a combi boiler with gas central heating fitted. We used to have a coal fire. Over the winter we began to see mold appearing everywhere. The walls, the roof, the furniture and the windows. Upstairs and down. We have lived in this house for 8 years now without this problem. The only thing i can put it down to is having gas fitted. Can anybody offer any advice? We recently had our 1st child together so it is a big worry moreResolved Question: Problem with my mom...?
So my parents have been telling me that I will get my room redone for about two years. So most of my furniture is clearence or things on sale. I've added everything up without the paint and wall paper (and tax) and everything has come to under $1000. I've been waiting so long and worked so hard at my job to get the money so I can pay for everything myself. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm sorry it's so long it's just been bugging me so much. It's not hard to speak up I always do But they just give me the same thing every time. The whole "Oh soon we'll do it! We'll do by the end of the month!" Oh up there, when I said "most of my furniture: I meant most of the new furniture I want is, just to try to help out with the money issue Gramcrackers, that's what I was saying I have everything done. I'm looking some more now but most of it needs to be done with my mom, like picking out my bed and things. I think it's mostly my dad, since he's the one with the money morePainted Furniture News
